EDISON, N.J. – Fairfield University Baseball Graduate catcher
Ethan Hibbard was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Week for the second-straight week after blast five home runs during the Stags' 3-1 weekend. Hibbard's monster week also included 10 RBI, nine runs scored, and a 1.471 slugging percentage.
"Ethan did a nice job being selective up in the zone," Head Coach
Bill Currier said. "He made the most of his barrel contact."
Hibbard's week was highlighted by a three-home run day against Fordham, tying the program's single-game record. He had three-straight games with three hits during a stretch where he batted .750 (9-for-12). He also hit a home run in three-straight contests to bring his career total to 18 long balls in 65 games played.
This season, he leads the MAAC and ranks third in the nation with a .500 average. He is also the conference leader in: doubles (eight), hits (34), on-base percentage (.568), runs scored (23), RBI (33), and slugging percentage. He ranks in the top-five nationally in RBI and slugging percentage.
Hibbard and the Stags are back in action for a three-game set at Don and Chris Cook Field when they welcome NJIT with the series starting on Friday at 3pm.
