Box Score EASTON, Penn.-For the second straight match, the Fairfield University men's tennis team swept its way to a victory, as the Stags blanked the host Lafayette College Leopards, 7-0, in the Keystone State on St. Patrick's Day afternoon. The win ups Fairfield's season record to 5-8; while the host Leopards fall to 6-7 overall.
The visitors got off to a quick start on Sunday grabbing the doubles point on the strength of wins from Alex Aguiar and Will O'Brien at number two (6-2) and Luca Benaibbouche and Andrew Immink at number three (6-1).
The Stags rolled through singles play getting straight sets triumphs from the number one through five flights in order from Thomas Smart, Sam Hodges, Keean Shah, Luca Benaibbouche and Griffin Schlesinger.
Calum Jessett completed the sweep for Fairfield with a three-set win in a super tiebreaker at number six.
Up next, the men's tennis team returns to the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts on Wednesday afternoon when local rival Sacred Heart University heads across town to face the Stags at 3:00 p.m. After the SHU match, Fairfield heads to Maryland on Saturday to open MAAC play at Mount St. Mary's.
