TRUMBULL, Conn.-Escaping the chilly and damp conditions Mother Nature brought to the Nutmeg State this weekend, the Fairfield University men's tennis returned to action at the Tennis Club of Trumbull on Sunday evening, and the Stags made quick work of future Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference foe, the Merrimack College Warriors, getting back in the win column with a 4-0 victory.

Fairfield jumped out to a fast start on Sunday and never looked back taking the doubles point on the strength of a pair of 6-1 victories posted by the duos of Sam Hodges and Thomas Smart at number one and Luca Benaibbouche plus Kostas Kollias in the number three slot.

The Stags kept the roll going in singles play finishing off the sweep behind straight set victories from Sam Hodges (6-1, 6-1) at number two, Nick Condos (6-1, 6-2) at number three and Keean Shah (6-3, 6-2) at number five.

Fairfield also was leading in three other singles matches that were not completed against the Warriors.

Said head coach Jeff Bricker, "The men came out tonight from first serve and played aggressive tennis. It's nice to get back home and get the win!"

Up next, the Fairfield men's tennis team is scheduled to hit the road to take on the Leopards of Lafayette College next Sunday, March 17.  Action is slated to begin at 12 noon in the Keystone State.
