FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Head Coach
Chris Casey has announced that
Luke Davidson will serve as a team captain of Fairfield University Men's Basketball for the 2024-25 season. Davidson joins
Jamie Bergens,
Louis Bleechmore,
Kyle Jenkins and
Birima Seck as the student-athlete leaders of the Stags this season.
After serving as a team manager a freshman, Davidson was added to the roster as a sophomore prior to the 2023-24 season. Now in his second campaign on the active roster, the junior guard has appeared in 12 career games. In his lone appearance this season, Davidson scored five points – including his first career three-pointer – in the Nov. 15 win over John Jay. In the classroom, he is a MAAC All-Academic and Dean's List student as a Sports Business and Psychology double major.
Prior to enrolling at Fairfield, Davidson was an All-State and two-time All-League honoree at Fayetteville-Manlius High School, where he averaged 15 points, four rebounds and four assists as a senior.
"Luke has shown incredible commitment to Fairfield Basketball over the last three years," said Casey. "He puts everything he has into driving the positivity in our team culture and the competition level in our gym on a daily basis, and is also an outstanding student and member of the University community. Luke has been a team leader in his own way even dating back to his freshman year as a manager, and I'm proud today to announce his as one of our team captains for the 2024-25 season."
Fairfield Men's Basketball is currently 5-4 on the season and 1-0 in the MAAC following a 78-75 win over Rider on Wednesday evening. The Stags continue the conference slate this Sunday, Dec. 8 at Mount St. Mary's.
