Box Score HAMDEN, Conn.-Newcomer Kacper Krolikowski continued the strong start to his collegiate tennis career on Friday, as he posted two victories to advance to the quarterfinals of the inaugural MAAC Masters Tournament hosted by Quinnipiac University.
The 2024 MAAC Masters Tournament is a singles and doubles single-elimination tournament for both men's and women's squads.
A native of Poland, Krolikowski opened play on Friday with a straight sets, 7-6, 6-2 triumph over Vid Maric of Niagara, and he then topped seventh-seeded Jose Catala of Marist in a super tiebreaker, 6-7, 7-6, 10-4.
Kacper will now face top-seeded Oscar Martinez of Siena in the Round of 8 on Saturday morning.
Fairfield's Kostas Kollias split a pair of super tiebreaker matches on Friday to move on to the Round 16, as he opened action with a 6-2, 6-7, 10-8 win over Sacred Heart's Paul Goncalves before falling to Niagara's Tanner Bedard, 0-6, 7-6, 4-10.
Alex Aguiar dropped his singles match to Mateusz Gradzki of Merrimack on Friday, 0-6, 3-6.
Along with playing in the singles quarters on Saturday, Kacper Krolikowski will team with Alex Aguiar plus Kostas Kollias and Will O'Brien will open doubles play at the 2024 MAAC Masters.
