AUBURN, ALA. - Surpassing three of his nine competitors during second round action Tuesday, Fairfield University men's golf senior Killian McGinley carded a two-over, 74 to improve to sixth out of 10 individuals at the 2023 NCAA Regionals at Auburn.
McGinley's efforts on day two of the tournament saw him shoot even through his first eight holes, before a single bogey on nine, which he quickly answered with a birdie on the next hole. He would score one more birdie on 13, a par 5 hole to go on to finish with a 74, placing his overall score at eight over heading into the final round tomorrow.
Amongst the individuals, Kentucky's Alex Goff continues to pace the group at one under through 36 holes. Tobias Jonsson of Mercer at three over is second, followed by Hugo Thyr of Southern Alabama at five over. Brian Ma from Harvard is tied alongside Erik Jansson of Jacksonville State for fourth at seven over par, followed by McGinley in sixth one shot back, and two strokes ahead of two players tied for ninth, and three ahead of the final solo competitor.
The final round of action from the Auburn University Club is slated for tomorrow, May 17th with the low individual amongst the aforementioned ten players advancing to NCAA Nationals on Memorial Day Weekend. Live scoring throughout the round will be available on Golfstat.
