FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Head Coach
Jay Young has announced that Louis Bleechmore will join Fairfield University Men's Basketball beginning in the fall of 2023. Bleechmore played 29 games in the Altantic-10 at Saint Joseph's this past season.
Â
A native of Sydney, Australia, Bleechmore came off the bench in 29 games for the Hawks, averaging 8.9 minutes per game. He logged double-digit minutes in 12 outings on his way to totaling 56 points and 31 rebounds. Bleechmore also made an impact on the defensive end, where Saint Joseph's relied on the 6-foot-6 wing to defend both on the perimeter and in the post.
Â
"We're excited to add Louis to our family here at Fairfield. He will provide a versatile skill set to our wing position," said Young. "Louis has the ability to stretch the floor with his three-point shooting, as well as attack off the bounce. He's a multi-positional defender who plays with a great motor. As someone who has played in the Atlantic-10 Conference and at a premier junior college, Louis has competed at a very high level thus far in his career. We're thrilled Louis has decided to continue his journey at Fairfield."
Â
Prior to joining Saint Joseph's, Bleechmore played two seasons at Harcum College in Bryn Mawr, Pa., where he averaged 11.5 points – shooting better than 50 percent from the field – and 4.4 rebounds per game. In his final campaign at Harcum, the Bears posted a 32-5 record and reached the Final Four of the NJCAA National Championship.
Â
Fairfield Men's Basketball will be in its fifth season led by Head Coach
Jay Young in 2023-24, which will be its second campaign playing all home games on campus at the Leo D. Mahoney Arena.
