OCEAN CITY, MD. – Michael McCarthy led his team for the first time as a Stag this weekend, shooting up to a top-25 finish Sunday to lead Fairfield University men's golf in the Battle at Rum Pointe.

M. McCarthy highlighted the Stags' efforts on course this weekend shooting two over with a 74 for in the opening round before a par round on Sunday to finish tied for 20^th in the 100-player field. In a tie for 30^th in the field, Killian McGinley tallied a plus four two-day score to finish the tournament one shot ahead of Jason Salemeno at plus five overall and tied for 33^rd in the field. Patrick McCarthy finished fourth for the Stags, improving three strokes in the final round to finish level for 47^th in the field at seven over and Zachary Maloy rounded out the Fairfield quintet in a tie for 79^th.

17 schools took to the Seaside Golf Links this weekend, with LIU running away with the scoring to capture first place as a team with a 14-stroke buffer to second place Rider which finished at one under for the tournament. Iona and Colgate would finish tied for third followed by Harvard and Siena deadlocked for fifth place, and then Dartmouth in seventh, MAAC newcomer Mount St. Mary's in eighth and the Stags tied for ninth alongside Sacred Heart.

Fairfield men's golf is back in action next weekend, Apr. 3-4 when they head down to Fort Lauderdale, Fla. For the Southern Invitational at The Falls Club
