Kelly Named United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Fairfield University Women's Soccer senior defender Caroline Kelly was named a Scholar All-American, being selected to the United Soccer Coaches Third Team. A team captain, Kelly maintained 3.53 GPA as a Psychology major, while being named to the MAAC All-Academic team three times.

"Being a successful student-athlete requires commitment and dedication, and Caroline has worked really hard over four years," Head Coach David Barrett said. "We are really proud of her accomplishment as a Scholar All American."

Kelly was just one of 45 Scholar All-American selections on the United Soccer Coaches squads and one of just four from schools in New England. She becomes the second Stag in program history to be named a Scholar All-American, joining Fairfield Hall of Famer Ahna Johnson who earned the distinction in 2008.

Off the pitch, Kelly was a complete example of a team captain, earning three All-MAAC Academic Team selections and a spot on the University's Deans List in every semester.

On the pitch, she started 52 games for the Stags as a defender and midfielder, and has been a part of the rise of the program, helping the Stags to 33 wins over the last three seasons. During her stay, the squad also clinched the 2022 MAAC Regular Season Championship and advanced to the Championship Game this season. She was also a two-time All-MAAC First Team honoree as a defender.

This year's All-Americans will be recognized for their accomplishments at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony & Reception on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
