EDISON, N.J. – After scoring in double figures in all three games for Fairfield University Men's Basketball this past week,
Peyton Smith has been selected as the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week.

Smith averaged 13.0 points per game in the Stags' three contests, shooting .692 from the floor. He also knocked down one of two three-point attempts and made both of his tries from the free throw line. The 6-10 freshman filled out his statline with 5.7 rebounds per contest.

After netting 13 points with seven rebounds in Fairfield's home-opening win over Mount Saint Mary, Smith and the Stags played two games in Philadelphia at the Market Street Challenge. He scored 10 points on 5-of-6 shooting on Friday against Drexel and added a career-high 16 points, shooting at a 7-of-11 clip, against Queens on Saturday.

On the season, Smith is averaging 11.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. He has started all five games to date for the Stags, playing 30.0 minutes per contest. Smith's .533 field goal percentage (24-for-45) is tied for 12th in the MAAC overall and ranks third among those with more than 40 attempts from the floor.
