Men's Soccer Hosts Marist On Saturday Night

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's soccer team will close out its two-game home stand on Saturday night when it hosts Marist College for a 7 pm match at Lessing Field. The Stags are playing their seventh home game of the 2023 campaign.

About Fairfield
  • The Stags came up a goal short in their last outing, a 2-1 setback against Manhattan College on Wednesday night. Fairfield outshot the Jaspers including a 7-3 count in the second half but could not find the equalizer despite a late surge. Thomas Drillien scored his second goal of the season late in the first that tied the match at 1-1.
  • Drillien moved into a tie for second among his teammates with five points on the season, equaling Kaea Ringihaeata's two goals and one assist this year. William Pierce still paces the Fairfield offense with 10 points off five goals, both totals that continue to place him among the top scorers in the MAAC. The Stags are averaging 1.45 goals per game with 16 in their 11 matches played.
  • Goalkeeper James Anderson surrendered two goals in the Manhattan match, the first time he has given up multiple goals in a game since the season opener against FDU. The senior brings a 1.17 goals against average with a .750 save percentage off 21 saves in his six appearances (3.5 saves per contest).

About Marist
  • The Red Foxes bring a 4-4-3 overall record and a 2-1-2 MAAC mark into this weekend, coming off a 1-0 victory over Quinnipiac University last Wednesday. The team has experienced success on the road this season with a its 2-2-2 slate away from campus including a 1-0-1 record in MAACC road games.
  • Jared Juleau and Richard Morel have led the Red Foxes' offense, each scoring three goals over their nine appearances. Juleau added a pair of assists to his total to give him eight points on the season while Morel has one assist for seven points. Both also have a game-winning goal this year with Juleau deciding the Florida Gulf Coast game and Morel determining the Colgate match.
  • Luca Bulfon has played every minute in the Marist goal this season, sporting a 1.18 goals against average with a .755 save percentage off 40 saves (3.6 per match). He also has earned a pair of clean sheets against Florida Atlantic University on the road and Quinnipiac University at home.
