FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield University Director of Rowing
David Patterson announced the 2022 Fall Schedules for the men's and women's rowing teams which commences with the Head of the
Housatonic in Shelton, Conn. on October 8. It is the first of four dates that both the men and women will participate this fall, dates which will send the Stags throughout the region.
After the Head of the
Housatonic, the women's team will compete in the Tail of the
Housatonic on October 15 once again in Shelton. The next date on the slate sends both the men's and women's teams to Massachusetts for the Head of the Charles. Both teams have experienced success at this prestigious event,
consistently earning automatic qualification against formidable competition. In last year's Head of the Charles, the women's team raced in the club four and the club eight races, taking 17th and 23rd respectively. The men's rowing team also competed during the regatta with the Stags securing 15th in the club four.
The month of November sends both teams to two championship events in the metropolitan area beginning with
NYRA Fall Invitational in
Teaneck, N.J. The event takes place on Sunday, November 6. The women's rowing team captured the team championship at the
NYRA Fall Invitational as the varsity 4 and second varsity 8 finished first in the competition to highlight the team's winning performance.
The fall season comes to completion with the Fall Metropolitan Championship on Saturday, November 12 which will take place in New Rochelle, N.Y. Last Fall, the two teams combined for nine first-place finishes at the Fall Met Championship. The pair, the varsity 8, the second varsity 8, the novice 8, and the novice 4, grabbed gold for the women. The pair, varsity 4, varsity 8, and the novice 8 all crossed the finish line first, giving the Stags gold in four of their seven entries for the men.
