FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Baseball left-handed pitcher Michael Sansone was named the MAAC Pitcher of the Week following his strong seven-inning performance against Quinnipiac. Sansone allowed just two hits and struck out six in the win against the Bobcats.
 
"It's good to see Mike back healthy and pounding the zone," Head Coach Bill Currier said. "He is changing speeds and has good accuracy. He can pitch and it's exciting to see."
 
Sansone picked up his fourth win of the year as he shut down the Quinnipiac bats by allowing two runs on two hits in seven innings against the Bobcats. Sansone's only two hits were a solo homer in the first inning and a leadoff double in the second. The southpaw retired 14-straight batters with his only base runners reaching on errors.
 
For the season, Sansone hold a 4-2 record and has thrown seven innings in back-to-back starts. This is Sansone's second MAAC weekly award of his career.
 
The win helped the Stags to their 15th MAAC win of the season, placing them second behind Marist.
 
Sansone and the Stags will compete in their final regular season series of the season when they host Siena for a three-game set starting on Thursday at 3pm.
