BOSTON, Mass. -- The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed their three-day stay at the Terrier Invitational on Sunday, an event hosted by Boston University. The Stags finished sixth in the team competition with the women scoring 442 points and the men netting 646.50 points.
The men's team placed a pair of swimmers in the top three during two events, while the women's team added four swimmers in the top six in three events. Alexey Belfer enjoyed the top finish in any event for Fairfield, garnering a second-place swim in the 100 free. He finished the distance in 45.27, approximately one-half second off the event's top time. Joseph Stewart, who had a second-place finish yesterday, followed up with third place in the 1650 free this afternoon. The sophomore completed the event in 15:41.78.
Erin Hoyland secured the top placement for the women on day three, taking fourth place in the 1650 free with her time of 17:07.31.
Erini Pappas grabbed sixth place in the 200 back later in the afternoon, completing the distance in 2:01.74. Fairfield tallied two top six placements in the 200 breaststroke with
Cailey Stockwell taking fifth place with her time of 2:21.08. Alison Sposilli garnered sixth place after being less than a second behind her teammate, registering a time of 2:21.74.

The Stags put three swimmers in the top 10 of the 200 fly with Hans Lim representing the top time among Fairfield participants, sporting a swim time of 1:52.28. Ed Hunt was not far behind as his seventh-place time was courtesy of his finish in 1:52.48. Joseph Stewart took home ninth place in the event by earning a time of 1:54.09.Â
The women's 400 free relay resulted in a 10th place finish (3:29.93) behind the efforts of
Olivia Thompson,
Erini Pappas,
Sydney Scalise, and
Serafina Viola. The men's 400 free relay featured two Fairfield entries garnering strong finishes with Joseph Stewart, Tim Regan, Evan Fair, and Alexey Belfer earning 6th based on their time of 3:10.24. Nick Besgen, Patrick Gill, Ed Hunt, and Oliver McLaughlin collected ninth place after touching the wall in 3:05.09.Â

The US Open is next on the Fairfield University swimming and diving schedule which begins on November 30 and runs through December 3 in Greensboro, N.C. The Stags will compete in their next dual meet in the new year when Fairfield hosts La Salle University on January 14 beginning at 11 am for diving and 1 pm for swimming.Â
