ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Fairfield University swimming and diving programs completed their three-day stay at the ECAC Championships with another strong effort that saw the men's team finish fifth and the women's team garnering sixth place at the Championships.
Joey Nizzardo opened the day for Fairfield with his performance in the 1650 free, going the distance with a time of 16:07.97.
Two member of the women's team earned spots in the 200 back B final with
Chloe Wukitch securing second with a time of 2:05.88 and
Shauna Harney securing third with a time of 2:05.97. Will Landon represented the men's team in this event, garnering second in the B final by finishing in 1:50.03.
Joseph Stewart collected second place in the B final of the 100 free, marking a time of 45.05 while Tim Regan was eighth in the meet by completing the distance in 45.70. Erin Gooding picked up fifth in the B final on the women's side, clocking in 2:25.41.
Olivia Glaser was the team's top finisher in the 200 fly, registering a third-place finish in the B final by touching the wall in 2:06.29. Ryan Woodzell also qualified for the B final in the same event, serving as the runner-up after swimming the distance in 1:52.08.
The 400 free relay brought the Championship to a close with the women taking fifth place (3:32.14) in the A final and the men securing fourth place (3:00.64) in the A final. The women's foursome was comprised by
Holly Rahurahu,
Lauren Patalano,
Sofia Smerechniak, and Abbie Digregorio. The men's team consisted of Joseph Stewart, Nicholas Besgen, Aidan Schnapf, and Tim Regan.
The women's team scored 214 team points which was sixth overall and the top score among the four Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The men's team tallied 229 team points which was fifth overall and also ranked first among the four MAAC teams.
