Amme Named NEC Field Hockey Player Of The Year

Amme, Hofmann, Milhous, Mirabile, Van Dijk Selected All-NEC

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Nora Amme earned the Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Year award for her performance on the pitch during the 2022 campaign. She joined fourth additional Fairfield University field hockey student-athletes on the 2022 All-NEC first and second teams as the conference announced its annual awards this afternoon. The selections were based on votes by the conference's head field hockey coaches.

Amme was also named to the All-NEC first team while teammates forward Konni Hoffman, midfielder Carmel Van Dijk, and defenders Madison Milhous and Frances Mirabile garnered All-NEC second team accolades for their achievements on the pitch.

Amme paced the Fairfield offense this season with team highs for goals scored (7), assists (10), and total points (24). The graduate student posted points in 11 of her 18 appearances this season including six multi-point games. A majority of her points came against NEC opponents, tallying 18 points (7 goals, 4 assists) during those seven contests.

Her most notably performance came in a tournament-clinching game against LIU when she scored all three goals in a 3-2 win which guaranteed a spot in this weekend's NEC Championship in Staten Island. After that game, Amme was named the NEC Offensive Player of the Week on October 25.

Hoffman excelled on the pitch in her inaugural season, scoring three goals and adding three assists for nine points. Two of her goals decided games, netting the game winner in back-to-back games against Saint Francis University and Quinnipiac University. Van Dijk has been one of the team's top play makers, dishing off seven assists to go along with her three goals. She picked up 10 of her 13 points down the stretch, registering points in four of the final seven regular-season contests.

Milhous and Mirabile helped anchor the Stags defense which ranked third among the NEC teams in several statistical categories. Milhous appeared in all 18 games as a member of Fairfield's back line, ranking among the team leaders in defensive saves. Her ability to mark and disrupt opponents has been instrumental in the Stags posting a pair of shutouts this year in addition to allowing one goal or less in six matches this year.

Mirabile has also been a key addition to the Stags defense this year, playing in all 18 games this season. In addition to her defensive efforts, the graduate student has also contributed up front with two goals and six assists for 10 points.

The Fairfield University field hockey team,  under Head Coach Jackie Kane, finished the regular season with a 10-8 overall record and a 5-2 NEC mark which earned the number three seed in this weekend's NEC Championship hosted by Wagner College. The Stags will face the host school on Friday at 2 pm in the tournament semifinals. The winner of the match will advance to the championship against the winner of top-seeded Rider University and fourth-seeded Saint Francis University on Sunday beginning at noon.
