WALLINGFORD, Conn. – For the second weekend in a row, junior Sydney Nethercott paced the Fairfield University women's golf team, scoring a sixth place finish out of 63-players in the Quinnipiac Classic at The Farms Country Club.
Nethercott earns her second consecutive top-10 finish following her win last week at the Hartford Hawks Invitational, and after carding a 78 and 77 through the first two rounds Monday sat tied for 10th in the field. From there she would improve by four spots on the leaderboard on Tuesday, to finish overall +18 to lead the Fairfield Five.
Finishing second for the Stags was senior Addy Douglas who improved by 11 spots on the table after shooting an 83 and 81 in the opening rounds, to finish tied for 29th in the field. Just two shots back of Douglas was Grace Kryscio who was tied for 36th in the field with a nine-stroke improvement in her score from round two to three, carding a 76 in the final round.
Also tied for 36th was freshman Juliette Prud'Homme who competed as an individual for the squad, carding her best score of the weekend in the latter round Monday afternoon where she scored a 78 at just six over par. Katelynn Waclawski would finish 53rd in the field, followed by Julia Towne who rounded out the Stags quintet.
Fairfield women's golf is back in action next Sunday and Monday, Oct. 16-17 when they head to Milford, Conn. for the Sacred Heart Fall Invitational from Great River Golf Course.
