Field Hockey Sets Up 19-Game Schedule For 2021

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University field hockey team will play one of its most robust schedules this fall as it will face 19 opponents during the 2021 campaign, a group that spans six different athletic conferences. The Stags will host nine home games this year which will include four Northeast Conference (NEC) home games. 

Head Coach Jackie Kane and her squad will open the season by playing four of their first five games away from campus including a season-opening trip to Saint Joseph University. on August 27. After returning from Pennsylvania, the Stags will head north for game two, a August 29 date with the University at Albany. The program gets to play its first game on its home field as Monmouth University comes to campus for a September 3 match up. 

Fairfield prepares for a pair of local contests, completing Labor Day weekend with a short trip to Yale University, the first of two Ivy League games this season. The team begins a Big East weekend for its next two dates, traveling to Quinnipiac University on September 10 before hosting Temple University on September 12. The Stags play three of their next four games at University Field, starting with Columbia University on September 17 at 4 pm.  After a quick trip to Drexel University on September 24, Fairfield will close out the month by welcoming Villanova University to campus on September 26. 

The month of October brings with Northeast Conference play to the Stags' schedule, beginning with LIU on October 1. After a non-conference date with Lafayette College on October 3, Fairfield will play a string of three NEC games which starts with home matches against Rider University on October 8 and Sacred Heart University on October 10. Wagner College closes out the three-game run by hosting the Stags on October 15.

Coach Kane will celebrate the seniors during a two-game stretch that closes out the regular-season home schedule as the program hosts Hofstra University on Sunday October 17 and St. Francis University on October 24. The remainder of the 2021 slate sends the Stags on the road, beginning with a date at Merrimack College on October 24. The final weekend includes a start at Bryant on October 29 and at Vermont on October 31.
