FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Danieille Profita was named the Northeast Conference (NEC) Field Hockey Fall Scholar Athlete of the Year this afternoon as the organization announced its annual academic honors. Profita was selected for the honor for her performance in the classroom and on the field, helping the Stags field hockey team post a 5-2 overall record during its 2020-21 season.
Profita remained one of the team's top offensive player as she anchored the Fairfield offense once again this year. She finished the campaign with one goal and one assist for three points, taking six shots in her seven starts. The forward scored a goal against Long Island University (LIU) in an NEC matchup and later added an assist to her season total by setting one of five goals scored by the Stags in their win over Sacred Heart University in the season finale.
Over her career, Profita has tallied 19 goals and 17 assists for 55 total points which included a personal-best 25 points off eight goals and nine assists during the 2019 campaign. She scored at least one goal in each of her four seasons with the Stags, netting three as a freshman and seven more as a sophomore. Profita capped her 2020-21 campaign by earning All-NEC honors as well as a berth to the NFHCA All-Mideast Region team.
In the classroom, Profita was recognized by the NFHCA by being placed on the organization's National Academic Squad. She earned a berth to the prestigious team in each of her four years with the Stags' field hockey program.

Jackie Kane, finished the 2021 regular-season with a 5-2 overall and NEC record. The Stags won their first three games of the campaign, dropped a pair of games midseason, but rallied to win their final two games on the schedule. Both of those final wins were by shutout.
