FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Fairfield University 1st varsity 8 was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Boat of the Week for its performance in the season opener against Sacred Heart University. The event took place on Saturday, March 6 in Shelton.

The Fairfield varsity 8 won its event in a dual meet with Sacred Heart in the team's season opener. The Stags crossed the finish line in 7:10.14. The entry was comprised by Natalie Fertility, Flo Faces, Christina Caruso, Alexis Mason, Isabella King, Grace Fallon, Audrey Serenely, Ana McDonough, and coxswain Faith Kenny

The Stags will continue their spring season on April 10 when they will compete in the Sacred Heart Invitational in Shelton. The event will start a three-week run of competition for the Fairfield University women's rowing team, competing against Manhattan, Iona, and Sacred Heart on April 17 as well as Loyola and Manhattan on April 24.
