Swimming & Diving Complete Second Day At Terrier Invitational

BOSTON, Mass. – The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving team finished up the second day of the Terrier Invitational this evening with the women posting 330 points and the men registering 550 points in the team scoring.
 
Erini Pappas paced the women's team with a pair of top ten finishes as an individual as well as two more as a member of a relay team. Joseph Stewart had a similar night with two top ten swims in addition to two relay runs that placed in the first 10 finishers.
 
Pappas took home a third place finish in the 400 IM by swimming the race in 4:25.51, the highest individual finish by any Stag on day two. She also secured an eighth place finish in the 100 back with her time of 56.11, less than a second behind teammate Eleonore Rembert's seventh place finish (55.82).
 
Pappas was also part of the 200 medley relay team that touched the wall ninth in 1:45.75 behind the efforts of Eleonore Rembert, Alison Sposili, Pappas, and Ameila Sicignano. The 800 free relay garnered fifth place with Lily Barker, Sydney Scalise, Serafina Viola, and Pappas combining for a swim of 7:38.88.
 
In other women's events, Maggie O'Donnell was the top finisher for Fairfield in the 100 fly with a time of 57.84, while Lily Barker completed the 200 free in 1:54.64. Allison Sposili competed in the 100 breast and finished in 1:07.56.
 
Stewart earned a sixth-place finish in the 400 IM by completing the distance in 4:00.96 and later added an eighth-place run In the 200 free after clocking in at 1:41.44. Senior Peter Gori secured fifth place in that race for Fairfield, collecting a time of 1:40.03.  
 
The freshman was also part of the sixth-place finish by the 800 Free Relay team which ended the race in 6:47.84 behind the work from Stewart, Evan Fair, Ed Hunt, and Peter Gori. The 200 Medley Relay team also secured a top ten finish by placing sixth with a school record time of 1:31.70. Will Robinson, Chris Ford, Evan Fair, and Alex Belfer comprised the crew.
 
The Stags placed two student-athletes in the top 10 for the 100 breast, the 100 back, and the 3-meter dive. Chris Ford took sixth (56.62) while Jack Shashaty (57.91) collected ninth in the 100 breast in addition to Evan Fair (school record 50.22) securing eighth and Will Robinson (51.47) grabbing 10th in the 100 back. Dillion O'Connor was the top finisher in the diving competition as his 260.55 points was strong enough for sixth place. Sam Tonole was ninth with his 175.75 points in the event.
 
Evan Fair posted a school record time of 49.63 in the 100 fly which placed him 11th in the field.
 
Fairfield will finish up the Terrier Invitational on Sunday with preliminaries beginning at 10 am and the finals starting at 5 pm.
