FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Riding their longest unbeaten streak in 13 years, the Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will put their eight match unbeaten streak on the line when they travel to Niagara University to face the Purple Eagles on Saturday at noon. The Stags enter the contest as one of the best defensive teams in the conference with a 1.14 goals against average while Niagara holds the spot as the top offensive team in the MAAC with 2.90 goals per game.
The Stags scored three in a back and forth contest against the reigning MAAC Champions Siena with a 3-2 victory on Lessing Field.
Reagan Klarmann tallied the eventual game-winner with just 90 seconds left in regulation as she took a pass from
Maddie Kiely and sent a left-footed strike past the goalkeeper.
Klarmann's game-winner was the capper for a three goal effort for the Stags which also featured two goals from
Elle Scott, her second multi goal game of the season. Scott got the scoring started for the Stags in the first half and then also tied the game off a throw in from
Allie Kirby in the second half.
The reigning MAAC Offensive Player of the Week,
Lexi Lehan also tallied an assist, helping Scott's first goal.
Niagara has scored a conference-high 29 goals this season with three student-athletes tallying at least six goals. Florence Vailancourt leads the MAAC with nine goals and six assists for 24 points.
The Stags eight match unbeaten streak is their longest since 2008, their last MAAC Championship season.
The Stags will return to Lessing Field for a Wednesday night showdown with Monmouth at 7pm.
