FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University Women's Soccer team will honor the Senior Class of 2027 with their annual Senior Day ceremony prior to Saturday's conference match against Canisius at noon. The six-member class of:
Cassidy Clinton,
Ella Pisani,
Brooke Walonis,
Anya Moser,
Hanah Silva, and
Kacie Benn will be honored with a special pregame ceremony starting at 11:40am.
The senior class have helped the Stags to 46 overall victories which includes 28 conference wins and 28 triumphs at Lessing Field where they hold a 28-4-3 record on their home pitch. The group have also helped the Stags to two regular season championships including the 2024 MAAC Tournament Title and NCAA Tournament appearance, the first for the program in over a decade.
The Stags are coming off a dominant 3-0 win over Rider in their first Metro Conference win of the season. The victory also marked the fifth-straight season the Stags started the year 1-0 in conference play.
Payton Zaun led the Stags with three points on a goal and an assist while
Amelie Stewart and
Brooke Kennedy also tallied scores. Fairfield put up a season-high 43 shots with 32 of those coming in the final 49 minutes of the match. The 43 attempts are tied for the third-most in the nation this year and the second-most against a Division I opponent.
Canisius enters play with a 3-3 overall record after falling to Sacred Heart in their Metro Conference opener. Azaria Fagan is the team leader with three goals while Alexa Turmel has played in all 540 minutes in goal with a 1.33 goals against average.
The Stags will hit the road for three of their next four matches, starting with a Saturday afternoon matchup at Siena at 1pm.
