FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield University Women's Soccer graduate, Nikki 'Guti' Stanton has announced her return to the Chicago Red Stars, signing a contract to return to the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). Stanton, a 2013 graduate from Fairfield University, returns to the American pro circuit after spending a year with Norwegian Club Klepp IL.
"I'm super excited to be back at the Chicago Red Stars!," Stanton said. "It's such a professional club with a group that feels like a family. I'm looking forward to competing in the NWSL again."
Stanton began her NWSL career in 2014 with Sky Blue FC, making 41 appearances in four years with the club. She was traded to the Red Stars in 2018 and immediately helped the club to back-to-back NWSL Semifinals appearances, including the club's first-ever Championship appearance in 2019. In total, Stanton has appeared in 81 matches in her NWSL career.
At Fairfield, Stanton earned three All-MAAC First Team honors between 2011-13. She also garnered regional recognition in 2013, being named to the NSCAA All-Northeast First Team after leading the team with seven assists. She was voted to the Fairfield Women's Soccer All-Decade team earlier in the offseason.
