FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Quinnipiac's Tatum O'Brien found the back of the net on a long left-footed strike in the second half to lead the Bobcats over the Fairfield University Women's Soccer team 1-0 on Lessing Field. The Stags out-shot Quinnipiac 22-4 in the match including a 13-1 mark over the course of the second half, with the only Bobcat attempt being O'Brien's goal in the 68th minute.
Despite the 22 shots, the Stags only had four on target with a pair of chances from
Kayleigh Lukasik and one each from
Ashley McMahon and
Brooke Kennedy.
Two of those attempts on frame came inside the opening nine minutes of the match with Lukasik and Kennedy's shot stopped by Quinnipiac's Olivia Jarvis.
Fairfield would have five-straight shots to end the half but could not find one on target.
Overall, McMahon and Kennedy led the Stags with five shots apiece.
The Stags also attempted a season-high 12 corner kicks compared to just three for Quinnipiac.
Fairfield will hit the road as they travel to Manhattan for a Saturday afternoon contest at 1:30pm.
