Dianne Nolan Inducted into Fairfield County Hall of Fame

STAMFORD, Conn. – Former Fairfield University Women's Basketball Head Coach Dianne Nolan was inducted into the Fairfield County Hall of Fame, commemorating her years of success in the state. Nolan, who served as the Stags' head coach for 28 years, was inducted into the J. Walter Kennedy Community Service wing of the Hall of Fame.

"I am honored and humbled to be included in the 2020 Induction Class of the Fairfield County Hall of Fame," Coach Nolan said. "I share this honor with all the Lady Stags, coaches, family, friends, and fans who contributed to our success. Having every player graduate with their degree, gain lifelong friends, and become respected members of society, along with the w's and championships is to be celebrated. During my time at Fairfield, which was a labor of love, I had the good fortune to work with outstanding administrators, coaches, and  support personnel, all who had a role in the success of the program."

Nolan won a school-record 456 games during her 28-year run with the Stags, leading Fairfield to four NCAA Tournament appearances and three MAAC Championships. She guided the Stags to their first-ever tournament championship in 1988 and also won the title in 1991 and 1998.

Nolan took over the Stags in 1979 and oversaw their transition to Division I just two years later, building the team to a consistent winner. Her squads won 20 or more games six times including three seasons with 25 or more victories. She was named the MAAC Coach of the Year five times during her time with the Stags.

All-time, Nolan won 575 games in 38 years as a Division I head coach, ranking in the top-50 all-time. She was inducted into the Fairfield University Athletics Hall of Fame in 2001 and the Connecticut Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2005. She was also honored this past offseason as one of five coaches placed on the MAAC 40th Anniversary team.
