BUFFALO, N.Y. – Evan Fair won the first Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship individual gold medal in program history, winning the 400-yard IM to pace Fairfield University Men's Swimming & Diving on Day 3 of the conference meet.
Fair turned in a time of 3:55.22 to beat the field in the 400-yard IM. Fairfield also took third place on the podium in two events with
Erik Hren posting a mark of 1:39.16 in the 200-yard freestyle and
Peter Sloan in the 100-yard breaststroke.
The Stags also picked up points on the team leaderboard from
Jordan Rahurahu in the 100-yard butterfly,
Benjamin Kebbell in the 200-yard freestyle,
Guillem Perez in the 100-yard breaststroke, and
Will Robinson and
Austin Twiss in the 100-yard backstroke.
Rounding out the day, the Stags nabbed sixth place in the 400-yard medley relay from the quartet of Robinson, Sloan, Rahurahu and Hren.
Friday's performances pushed the Stags into seventh place on the team leaderboard. Rider currently tops the standings, besting second-place Marist by more than 140 points.
Action from the 2020 MAAC Championship concludes on Saturday in Buffalo.
