FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Fairfield men's and women's swimming and diving dominated Manhattan in the pool today as they celebrated Senior Day in their final home meet of the season, at the RecPlex Pool. The women won all 16 events defeating the Jaspers by a score of 239-44 while the men swept all of their events as well and came away with a 233-56 win.
The women started off the day with a one-two finish in the 200 SC Meter Medley Relay.
Morgan Rogers,
Victoria Krivitsky,
Shannon McDade, and
Emily Holman won with a final time of 2:06.58 while
Lauren Belecanech,
Tara Lenahan,
Juliana Lally, and
Courtney Dye finished second with a time of 2:11.44.
Julia Courtney won the 800 SC Meter Freestyle clocking in at 9:38.11 while
Shannon Feeley finished second at 9:42.86.
Julia Courtney also won the 200 SC Meter Backstroke with a time of 2:28.26.
Sara Ostensen and
Maria Nitti finished one-two in the 200 SC Meter Freestyle at 2:12.83 and 2:15.00 respectively.
Morgan Hansen (1:07.87),
Juliana Lally (1:10.95), and
Emily Holman (1:11.47) came in first, second, and third place respectively in the 100 SC Meter Backstroke.
Colleen Young won the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke clocking in at 1:18.09 while
Victoria Krivitsky and
Tara Lenahan finished in second and third.
Madelynn Mowad finished first in the 200 SC Meter Butterfly at 2:27.35 while
Haleigh McLaughlin finished in second (2:38.75). Mowad also won the 100 SC Meter Freestyle with a final time of 1:01.27 and
Maria Nitti finished second at 1:01.91.
Samantha D'Alessandro won the 50 SC Meter Freestyle at 28.11.
Tara Lenahan took home the first-place finish in the 200 SC Meter Breaststroke at 2:53.93 while
Delaney Walsh finished second (2:55.82).
Sara Ostensen also won the 400 SC Meter Freestyle with a final time of 4:44.65 and
Rachel Landry finished in second at 4:48.87.
Morgan Hansen came in first place in the 100 SC Meter Butterfly at 1:05.47 while
Alexandra Miko-Rydzaj came in second at 1:08.34. Miko-Rydzaj also placed second in the 200 SC Meter Individual Medley while
Madelynn Mowad won clocking in at 2:27.24. D'Alessandro, Nitti, Hansen and Ostensen finished the day with a win in the 400 SC Meter Freestyle Relay at 4:13.83.
Caitlin Campbell won the 3 Meter Diving with a final score of 190.57 and finished second in the 1 Meter Diving (195.67).
Erin Wind won the 1 Meter Diving with a score of 201.59.
On the men's side,
Will Robinson,
Peter Sloan,
Jordan Rahurahu and
Ian Nelson won the 200 SC Meter Medley Relay to begin the day with a final time of 1:45.06.
Evan Fair,
Guillem Perez,
Arion Mete and
Nick Adams finished in second at 1:49.09.
Patrick Boyle and
Chris Ford went one-two in the 800 SC Meter Freestyle clocking in at 8:41.74 and 8:55.62 respectively.
Erik Hren won the 200 SC Meter Freestyle with a time of 1:54.69 while
Peter Gori and
Brendan Finnegan placed second and third. Hren also won the 400 SC Meter Freestyle at 4:07.07 while Gori and
Phillip Zyskowski came in second and third respectively.
Will Robinson took home the win in the 100 SC Meter Backstroke at 57.42 and
Thomas Willemse was the runner-up at 1:02.30.
Peter Sloan (1:05.27),
Guillem Perez (1:07.41), and
Harrison McGovern (1:09.21) finished first, second and third respectively in the 100 SC Meter Breaststroke.
Evan Fair came in first in the 200 SC Meter Butterfly at 2:07.44 while
Jordan Rahurahu and Zyskowski placed second and third.
Ian Nelson won the 50 SC Meter Freestyle at 24.09 while Hren and Adams came in second and third place respectively.
Brendan Finnegan won the 100 SC Meter Freestyle with a final time of 54.64 while
Kevin Brandbergh finished second at 55.80. Fair also won the 200 SC Meter Backstroke clocking in at 2:08.56 while
Will Robinson placed second at 2:12.92. Fair finished first in the 200 SC Meter Individual Medley as well at 2:09.63 while
Jack Benavides and
Timothy Cusack-McPartlin finished in second and third place.
Chris Ford (2:30.03), McGovern (2:33.33) and
John Shashaty finished one-two-three in the 200 SC Meter Breaststroke. Rahurahu won the 100 SC Meter Butterfly at 57.09 while
Ian Nelson and
Nick Adams finished close behind in second and third place respectively. Hren, Rahurahu, Gori, and Finnegan finished the day with a win in the 400 SC Meter Freestyle Relay clocking in at 3:34.80 while
Kevin Brandbergh, Adams, Zyskowski, and Nelson finished second at 3:44.42.
Samuel Tonole won the 1 Meter Diving with a final score of 224.24 and finished second in the 3 Meter Diving at 222.23.
Fairfield will return to action as they travel to Massachusetts to take part in the Boston Winter Open at Boston University on February 7-8. The Stags will then make their way up to Buffalo N.Y. to compete in the MAAC Championships from February 12-15.
