SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – Fairfield men's and women's swimming took on Seton Hall but both teams were defeated by the Pirates. The men's team fell by a score of 96-186 while the women were edged by a score of 114-184.
For the women,
Colleen Young took home a first-place finish in the 100 Yard Breaststroke clocking in at 1:08.69 and finished second in the 200 Yard Breaststroke (2:30.71).
Morgan Hansen had a great day with two first place finishes in the 200 Yard Butterfly (2:07.78) and the 100 Yard Butterfly (58.65).
Maria Nitti won the 50 Yard Freestyle with a final time of 24.28 and took second place in the 100 Yard Freestyle (53.71).
Shannon Feeley placed second in the 1650 Yard Freestyle with a final time of 17:16.05 while
Rachel Landry finished second in the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:58.98).
Sarah Scelsa also placed second in the 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:15.36 and third in the 100 Yard Butterfly.
Sara Ostensen finished in third in the 500 Yard Freestyle while
Kathleen Duong placed third in the 200 Yard Freestyle.
Kelly Cordes, Young, Hansen, and Nitti came in second place in the 200 Yard Medley Relay (1:50.33) and
Samantha D'Alessandro,
Sarah Herbold, Ostensen, and Nitti finished in second in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay (1:41.09).
Erin Wind won the 3 Meter Diving with a final score of 216.67 and came in second in the 1 Meter Diving with a score of 196.05.
On the men's side,
Patrick Boyle started the day with a first-place finish in the 1650 Yard Freestyle clocking in at 16:07.01. Evan Fair finished in first place in the 400 Yard Individual Medley (4:09.25) while
Jordan Rahurahu and
Timothy Cusack-McPartlin came in second and third respectively. Fair also finished in second in the 500 Yard Freestyle and third in the 100 Yard Backstroke. Rahurahu finished in third in the 200 Yard Freestyle while
Peter Sloan finished in third in the 100 Yard Breaststroke.
John Shashaty placed third in the 200 Yard Breaststroke and
Jack Benavides finished third in the 100 Yard Butterfly.
In the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay,
Benjamin Kebbell, Fair,
Phillip Zyskowski, and
Nick Adams finished in first place with a final time of 1:30.07. Kebbell, Sloan, Rahurahu, and Adams also placed third in the 200 Yard Medley Relay.
Lukas Stanton won the 1 Meter Diving with a final score of 220.34 and placed second in the 3 Meter Diving (203.55).
The Stags will return to action on Saturday, January 19 as they host MAAC opponent Iona at the RecPlex Pool at 1 PM.
