STORRS, Conn. – Fairfield University men's tennis kicked off their season with a successful weekend at the UConn Invitational.
In Singles Competition,
Tyler Shibles defeated Dylan Grannat of Bentley (6-1, retired) in the Singes A quarterfinals before falling to Max Stehling of Boston University (6-1, 6-2) in the semifinals.
Lewis Edwards also picked up a win in the Singles A consolation semifinals defeating Jack McLister from UConn (8-3).
Both
Jeffrey Rodgers and
Allan Magid each tallied a win in the Singles B consolation quarterfinals before falling the consolation semifinals.
In Singles C,
John Hatala defeated Kendall Au of Bentley (6-3, 7-5) to move on to the quarterfinals where he took down Brett Gilman of Bentley (6-3, 7-5). Hatala did his best in the semifinals but ultimately fell to Pedro Gutierrez of Boston University by a score of (7-6, 2-6, 10-4).

Jeff Bricker. Overall, we were a little bit rusty, but we improved each day. Hopefully we can get the rest of the team back from injury soon and get the full team on the court."
The Stags will be in action again this weekend as they compete in the Ivy Plus tournament at Yale in New Haven, Connecticut.
