ANNAPOLIS, MD. – Fairfield Swimming and Diving found success in the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) National Invitational this past weekend at the United States Naval Academy in their final scheduled meet of the year. Twelve total swimmers competed in the meet representing Fairfield.  Morgan Hansen, Rachel Landry, Sara Ostensen, Victoria Krivitsky, Sarah Herbold, and Maria Nitti competed for the women while Jordan Rahurahu, Nick Adams, Phillip Zyskowski, Ian Nelson, Kevin Brandbergh, and Benjamin Kebbell represented the men.  The women placed 28th overall and the men finished in 22nd place.

Rachel Landry scored in the 400 Individual Medley coming in 13th place with a final time of 4:40.04.  Both Morgan Hansen and Sara Ostensen both scored in the 200 Yard Butterfly as Hansen placed 13th with a time of 2:02.04 which set a new program record.  Ostensen placed 15th clocking in at 2:05.54 and she also came in 18th place in the 500 Yard Freestyle.

Jordan Rahurahu, Phillip Zyskowski, Kevin Brandbergh and Ian Nelson scored in the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay finishing in 12th with a time of 7:02.89.  Rahurahu scored in the 200 Yard Butterfly in 16th place finishing at 1:53.80.  He also broke the program record for the 100 Yard Butterfly clocking in at 50.67 which surpassed the previous record of 52.89 set back in 2011 by Tyler Conley.

"I am really proud of the way we competed this week" said Head Coach Anthony Bruno.  "It's really difficult to come back after a long emotional championship weekend and recommit to preparing for another week of racing. Our group responded well and were able to not only just be at the meet but really leave a mark and score among some of the best in the nation."

"We don't want to just be the best in our conference, we strive to be one of the best in the region" continued Bruno.  "We saw teams from all of the nation this week, many of them champions in their respected conferences. Our student athletes really embraced the opportunity and went out there and competed at a high level."

Fairfield Women's swimming and diving won the MAAC Championship last month for the first time in program history while the men finished in eighth place.
