WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Fairfield women's swimming and diving began their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference slate with a win today over Monmouth by a score of 172-90 but the men were defeated 67-191.
The women started off the day with a win in the 400 Yard Medley Relay as
Kelly Cordes,
Victoria Krivitsky,
Sara Ostensen, and
Maria Nitti finished with a final time of 4:03.71. Cordes, Nitti, Ostensen, and
Sarah Herbold also took first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:40.70.
Sarah Herbold finished in first place in the 1000 Yard Freestyle (10:36.99) and in the 200 Yard Butterfly (2:14.14) while
Sara Ostensen placed first in the 200 Yard Freestyle clocking in at 1:58.33.
Victoria Krivitsky won the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:09.91) and the 200 Yard Breaststroke (2:31.62).
Maria Nitti also came in first in the 50 Yard Freestyle (24.45) while
Samantha D'Alessandro finished first in the 100 Yard Freestyle with a time of 54.11.
Kathleen Duong clocked in with the winning time of 5:23.75 in the 500 Yard Freestyle and
Shannon Feeley finished first with a final time of 2:15.07 in the 200 Yard IM.
Delaney Walsh came in second in the 1000 Yard Freestyle while
Kelly Cordes finished second in the 200 Yard Freestyle.
Betsy Powers also placed second in the 200 Yard Butterfly while
Samantha D'Alessandro finished second in the 50 Yard Freestyle. In the 200 Yard Breaststroke,
Shannon Feeley finished second and
Madelynn Mowad finished in third. Mowad also finished second in the 200 Yard IM.
Shannon McDade finished second in the 100 Yard Butterfly as well.
On the men's side,
Patrick Boyle took home a first-place finish in the 1000 Yard Freestyle (9:55.85) and a second-place finish in the 200 Yard Butterfly.
Peter Gori finished first in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a final time of 5:01.30 and second in the 200 Yard Freestyle.
Peter Sloan finished second in the 100 Yard Breaststroke and in the 200 Yard Breaststroke.
Timothy Cusack-McPartlin picked up a second place in the 1000 Yard Freestyle and a third-place finish in the 500 Yard Freestyle.
Jack Benavides also finished third in the 100 Yard Butterfly and the 200 Yard IM.
The Stags will return to action next weekend on Saturday, November 3 at 1 P.M. as they host Providence at the RecPlex Pool.
