HAMDEN, Conn. -- Fairfield University Women's Tennis took part in the Quinnipiac Invitational this past weekend.  The Stags picked up four singles wins and one doubles win during the three-day tournament at the outdoor tennis facility in Hamden, Connecticut.

Emily Lombardi competed in the "B" Singles Bracket defeating Sabrina Navarro from Sacred Heart (6-1, 6-1) before falling to Summer Walker of UConn in the second round, (6-2, 6-1). Anna Komer faced Ana Joyner from Army West Point in the "B" Bracket as well and fell by a score of (6-1, 6-3).

In the "D" Bracket, Meghan Zimmer earned a 6-4, 7-6 (1-0) victory over Carolina Sa of Fordham moving on to the second round where she dropped the match in two sets to Sera Martorelli of Army West Point (6-2, 6-4).

Courtney Connors and Jessica Pil both dropped their first-round matches in the "C" Singles Bracket and moved on to the "C" consolation bracket.  Connors defeated Sera Satkowski of Providence by a score of 8-4 in her first consolation match before Gloria Son topped the junior 8-1 in the second round. Jessica Pil picked up the first-round consolation win as well in a matchup against Providence's Natalie Pitocco, 8-0.  She then fell in the second round, 8-7 (7-5), to Dana Funaro of Army West Point.

In the "A" Doubles Bracket, Emily Lombardi and Diana Prinos defeated Aidan Epstein and Risa Takenama from Providence by a score of 6-4.  They then dropped their second-round match against Carina Ma and Estelle Wong of Fordham, 6-2.

"I am very pleased with how we competed this weekend" said Head Coach Jeff Bricker. "We were in every match and a lot of our losses were to eventual champions in their respective brackets. These early season tournaments are a great way for the women to get in some competition against top level talent. I think this was a good confidence builder that we can hopefully take into our next tournament at Army."

Fairfield will travel to West Point, N.Y. this weekend to compete in the Army Invitational.
