GRAND LAKE, Colo. – The Fairfield University women's lacrosse team has been named an Academic Honor Squad by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), as announced today by the organization. In addition, five Stags earned a place on the IWLCA Honor Roll for their academic achievements.
The five student-athletes to merit individual honors were
Kaitlyn Arnold,
Erin Bauman,
Alex Fehmel,
Katie FitzPatrick and
Amy White. The quintet was among the 18 Stags that previously earned MAAC All-Academic laurels during the 2017 season.
On the field, Fairfield advanced to their eighth MAAC Championship Game in 2017, highlighting a 12-6 campaign that featured a 7-1 MAAC record. The Stags won double-digit games for the ninth time in the past 10 years.
To earn a place on the IWLCA Honor Roll, a student-athlete must be a junior, senior or graduate student with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. To be selected as an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad, a team must have earned a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher throughout the 2016-17 academic year.
