Women's Lacrosse Host The Pride on Saturday

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University women's lacrosse team hosts Hofstra on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. for the second half of a lacrosse doubleheader. The first game will be the men's lacrosse team taking on Rutgers at noon on Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium.

Fairfield (0-3) vs. Hofstra (2-0): The Stags and Pride will meet on Saturday for the 14th time in program history. Fairfield is 2-11 all-time against Hofstra. The last meeting between the two sides was last season on February 27, a game in which the Stags won 13-12.

Scouting the Pride: Hofstra comes in riding a two-game winning streak with wins over Bucknell and most recently Wagner. Freshman midfielder Alyssa Parrella leads the Pride with 13 points, consisting of team highs in both goals (8) and assists (5). Lexi Lenaghan and Drew Shapiro sit her behind her, each with eight points on the young season. Sophomore goalkeeper Maddie Fields has notched all 120 minutes in cage thus far. She posts a 7.50 goals against average and 13 saves.

Last Time Out: The Fairfield University women's lacrosse team was on the short side of a 13-11 decision at Columbia. Brenna Connolly totaled five points for the Stags with a hat trick and two assists, and Riley Hellstein scored four goals. Fairfield also got two goals from Lily Crager and one marker apiece netted by Alex Fehmel and Taylor Mitchell. Olivia Russell and Scarlett Sulliman each doled out an assist for the Stags.

Career Milestones: Senior Riley Hellstein has racked up 142 draw controls in her career thus far ranking second all-time at Fairfield. The program record belongs to Melanie Raso '14, who hauled in 153 draw controls in her career.

Looking Ahead: The Stags stay at home for their next contest when they welcome the University of New Hampshire Wildcats to town on Sunday, March 5 for a noon face off.
