Biography

2018: Team captain…Played in 20 games, starting 18. Scored a career-best 37 goals, second best on the team, and had three assists for 40 points. Had seven games with three or more goals including three straight during a stretch from February into March where she found the back of the net three times in the 13-12 win over Hofstra, the 18-7 win over Sacred Heart and the 15-9 win over New Hampshire.

2017: MAAC All-Academic Team… Appeared in all 18 games as a junior, earning a start in the season opener at Holy Cross on February 11… Finished the season with seven points off six goals and an assist… Scored twice in the win over Central Connecticut on March 29… Finished the season with five groundballs and one draw control.

2016: As a sophomore made two appearances for the Stags… Scored a goal off her only shot of the season in the win against Quinnipiac on April 20th.

2015: Russell competed in five contests at attack for the Stags. She made her collegiate debut against Central Connecticut State and saw action against conference foes Manhattan, Iona, Niagara, and Quinnipiac. Russell recorded her first collegiate goal against Manhattan on March 21. She also tallied a goal against Quinnipiac, to finish the season with two points. She recorded five shots, with four shots on goal, and earned a shots on goal percentage of .800.

Before Fairfield: Russell comes to Fairfield after lettering four seasons at Sayville High School, where she served as a team captain her senior year. Russell competed at attack, where she helped the Golden Flashes own a 14-5 record and a 2014 Suffolk County Championship titles. During that season, she recorded 52 goals and eight assists. Throughout her career as a Golden Flash, Russell tallied 104 goals and 20 assists. As a junior and senior, Russell received All-County accolades and was an Academic All-American in 2014. She also received the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award and the Sayville Coaches Award in her final season.  Russell also earned three letters playing field hockey for the Golden Flashes.

Personal: Daughter of Debra and Mark Russell… Has three siblings: Mark, Hannah and Dylan.
