Both Stags collect Second Team accolades

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – Haley Burns and Tessa Caputo have been named to the All-Northeast Region Second Team by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association, as announced by the organization on Thursday afternoon. Both were previously named All-MAAC First Team performers for the back-to-back MAAC Champion, Fairfield University Women's Lacrosse.

Burns collects an All-Northeast Second Team spot in the midfield. The graduate student was the MAAC Midfielder of the Year in addition to her All-MAAC First Team honors in 2026. Burns was a standout on both ends of the field for the Stags. On offense, she ranked second on the Stags with 33 goals and second on the club with 42 total points. Defensively, Burns racked up a team-leading 40 caused turnovers, ranking second in the MAAC with 2.11 caused turnovers per game. She also picked up 34 ground balls with 32 draw controls.

Burns wrapped up her Fairfield career as a three-time All-MAAC selection. She ranks fifth in program history with 105 caused turnovers and 16th with 120 ground balls.

Caputo's sophomore campaign was among the best offensive seasons in Fairfield history. She set a new program single-season record with 55 assists and her 83 total points are tied for the third most in a season in program history. She ranks ninth in the nation with 55 helpers and 10th with 2.89 assists per game. Caputo was named All-MAAC First Team and was a part of the MAAC All-Championship Team after racking up 11 points in Fairfield's run to the crown, including six assists in the Championship Game.

Caputo will enter her junior campaign already surpassing the 100-point mark with 110 and counting.

Fairfield Women's Lacrosse won its second consecutive MAAC Championship in 2026 – the 10th in program history – and made its eighth straight appearance in the NCAA postseason. Head Coach Laura Field has been at the helm for a conference-record seven MAAC Championship victories.
