BRONX, N.Y. – Sami Carey set the pace in her final race with Fairfield University Women's Cross Country at the 2017 ECAC Championship. Carey finished the 5K course at Van Cortlandt Park in 20:14.7 as the Stags placed 23rd at the championship meet.

Following Carey on the course were
Kelsi Farren (20:21.0) and
Emma Unterkoefler (20:42.3) and the Stags' top three finishers.
Katie Kern (20:45.4),
Shannon Lavin (21:21.9) and
Ashley Cambisaca (21:47.9) rounded out the Fairfield performances this morning in the Bronx.

The Stags topped two teams on the leaderboard, NJIT and MAAC opponent Saint Peter's. Fairfield was edged out by Colgate by just eight points.

James Madison won the ECAC Championship with 60 points, placing four of the race's top 10 finishers. The individual pacesetter was Amanda Corbosiero of second-place Richmond, who completed the course with a winning time of 17:51.5.
