BUFFALO, N.Y. – Fairfield University Women's Cross Country competed against the best in the region on Friday at the NCAA Northeast Region Championship in Buffalo.
Kaylee Bergen led the way for the Stags as Fairfield placed 34th in the 6K meet.

Bergen posted a time of 24:16.7 as the top-scoring Stag, followed by
Sami Carey (24:36.4) and
Kelsi Farren (25:04.3).
Shannon Lavin (26:27.5) and Anna Valentine (26:36.5) rounded out the scoring quintet for Fairfield, following closely by
Ashley Cambisaca (27:01.8) and
Katie Kern (27:31.7).

The Stags' 34th place finish slotted them ahead of Colgate and St. Bonaventure on the team leaderboard. #10 nationally-ranked Providence won the NCAA Northeast Region Championship, placing four harriers among the top 15 to best second-place #30 Dartmouth. Elinor Purrier of New Hampshire won the individual title with a winning time of 21:20.8.

Fairfield wraps up the 2017 fall campaign next Saturday, Nov. 18, at the ECAC Championship at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
