NEWARK, N.J. – The Fairfield University women's tennis team took part in the NJIT Fall Invitational this past weekend to wrap up their fall schedule coming away with 10 wins in Singles competition and a couple of victories in Doubles competition. 

Diana Prinos started off the first round of Singles competition with a win over Rafaella Sampaio of NJIT by a score of 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5). She picked up another victory the second round over Mayar Eltony of NJIT 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, 1-0 (10-3).  Gabriella Campos also tallied two wins first against Madeline Hill of Saint Joseph's University by a count of 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8)  and then over Nicole Vassele of Sacred Heart University 2-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-4).

Jessica Pil came away with three wins on the weekend defeating Sabrina Navarro of Sacred Heart by a score of 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5), Alba Rosas of NJIT 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5) and Lauren Santasiero of Sacred Heart 7-6 (4-2), 6-2. 

Three other Stags were successful in Singles competition starting with Sarah Stuhlmann who beat Brianne Lauria of Sacred Heart by a count of 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-6).  Emily Lombardi took down Maureen Devlin of Saint Joseph's 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-7) and Anna Komer defeated Isis Gill-Reed of Saint Joseph's 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5). 

In Doubles competition, Jessica Pil and Anna Komer teamed up to take down Kiera Tobia and Sabrina Navarro of Sacred Heart by a score of 6-1.  Courtney Connors and Gabriella Campos also defeated Mikaya Hamilton of NJIT and Madison Chontos of Saint Joseph's in a Doubles exhibition matchup to finish off the tournament. 

"I'm really excited with how we competed this weekend" said Head Coach Jeff Bricker. "This was a great way to end the fall season. Everyone played at a high level and showed exceptional focus. I feel like this gave everyone confidence that we can play with anyone. We will work on our doubles a little bit, but I'm really looking forward to January!"

The Stags will take a break until the New Year and the spring schedule will be announced soon.
