HOLMDEL, N.J. – Kaylee Bergen led the way as Fairfield University Women's Cross Country finished ninth at the 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship on Saturday morning at Holmdel Park. Bergen finished the 6K course in 43rd place with a time of 23:39.51.
Behind Bergen,
Sami Carey was also in the top half of the 144-runner field. She finished her final MAAC Championship Meet with a mark of 24:20.81.
Kelsi Farren,
Anna Valentine and
Shannon Lavin rounded out the quintet of scorers for the Stags.
Katie Kern,
Ashley Cambisaca,
Emma Unterkoefler,
Devyn O'Brien and
Tara Cirillo also hit the course in New Jersey this morning.
The Stags' ninth-place finish marked an improvement from Fairfield's 10-place showing at the conference meet last October in Orlando. Perennial power Iona came away with the MAAC Championship, paced by a time of 21:20.05 by individual champion Egle Morenaite.
The Stags continue their Championship Season on Friday, Nov. 10 for the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship in Buffalo.
