Crispino Named PGCBL Player of the Week

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – After recording 10 hits in his 20 at-bats with four doubles and seven RBI, Fairfield University baseball rising senior Mac Crispino was rewarded by being selected the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) Player of the Week. It is the first weekly award for the PGCBL Eastern Division All-Star during the summer season.

“It's great seeing Mac continue to be productive at the plate in a competitive league,” Head Coach Bill Currier said. “He's been productive with clutch hitting as he did in the spring.”

“It feels great to get this Player of the Week award and be recognized around the league,” Crispino said. “I've been trying to hit the ball hard every time I'm up and I've been letting the rest take care of itself. I'm controlling what I can control.”

More often than not, Crispino has been hitting the ball hard over the last month in particular. In his last 22 games, Crispino is batting .379 (33-for-87) with a league-leading 11 doubles, while also driving in 22 RBI, the third most in the league. Crispino tallied a pair of three hit games over the last week leading up to his weekly award.

Crispino is coming off a breakout season at the plate where he hit .329 in MAAC games and led the team with a .360 batting average with runners in scoring position. For his clutch hitting, Crisipino was voted to the All-MAAC Second Team for the first time in his career and closed the regular season by being named the conference's Player of the Week. He has continued that success over the summer where he has recorded a .333 batting average, the second highest total for the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs. Crispino was one of three Stags to be named an Eastern Division All-Star in the PGCBL, joining teammates Kevin Radziewicz and Drew Arciuolo, who leads the team with a .385 batting average.

“It's good to see them having success in the summer,” Coach Currier said. “We look forward to all of our summer league All-Stars joining their teammates back at school in a month to begin work defending the MAAC Championship.”

“It's been a fun summer,” Crispino said. “But I can't wait for school ball!”
