Mike Cole Promoted to Associate Head Coach

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – After three years of being one of the important coaches on the staff, Mike Cole has been promoted to the position of Associate Head Baseball Coach, Head Coach Bill Currier announced today. Cole is entering his fourth season with the Stags after stops at NJIT, Vermont, Manhattan, and Maine.

“First, I would like to thank Coach Currier for promoting me to Associate Head Coach,” Cole said. “I have a great deal of respect for him personally and professionally, and have learned a tremendous amount from him as a player and as a coach. Fairfield University is a great place to be and I feel confident that the baseball program is moving in the right direction as we strive to reach our goal of winning a MAAC Championship. I'm looking forward to working with the rest of the staff as we continue to develop our program and student athletes both on and off the field.”

Mike Cole has been an important part on the coaching staff here at Fairfield and every other school he has been associated with,” Head Coach Bill Currier said. “He is one of the sharpest baseball coaches in the Northeast and has been involved in coaching Division I baseball for 15 years. It was an obvious promotion to elevate Coach Cole to this position.”

Cole and Currier first worked together at Vermont where Cole played under Currier and graduated as the Catamount's all-time leader in games played, doubles, and RBI.

After four seasons at Vermont, Cole was the top assistant coach at Manhattan where he helped the Jaspers win their first-ever MAAC Championship crown and advance to the NCAA Regional Championship Game,

In his three seasons at Fairfield, Cole was an assistant coach for the team that set the program record for wins in a season with 32 in 2014.

Cole and the Stags will open up their season against Delaware State on Friday February 26 at 3pm.
