NEWTON, Mass. – Three members of the Fairfield University men's lacrosse team have earned All-New England honors, as voted upon by the region's head coaches and announced today by the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA). TJ Neubauer garnered First Team All-New England honors, while Tristan Sperry and Max Buchanan were tabbed to the Second Team.
Neubauer, Sperry and Buchanan were all co-captains for the 2015 Colonial Athletic Association regular season champion Stags and all earned First Team All-CAA laurels. Fairfield wrapped up the 2015 campaign at 9-6 and receiving votes in the USILA Coaches' Poll.
Now a two-time First Team All-NEILA honoree, Neubauer was Fairfield's leading scorer for the second straight season in his junior campaign. The midfielder scored 31 goals to move into ninth place on the Stags' all-time list with 78 career markers. Neubauer also handed out three assists and ranked second on the team – behind faceoff specialist Will Fox – with 49 ground balls.
Sperry racked up a team-leading 47 points in 2015, scoring 23 goals and handing out a team-high 24 assists. He was the only Stag to score a point in every game this spring, ending his career with an active streak of 16 games dating back to the 2014 ECAC Championship Game. The senior attackman posted four points in the CAA Championship Semifinals en route to earning All-Championship honors. In the career record books, Sperry leaves Fairfield ranked ninth in points (128), 10th in goals (74) and seventh in assists (54) in program history.
Buchanan's All-NEILA and All-CAA nods mark the first postseason honors of his career. The senior defenseman started all 15 games on the back line for the nation's fourth-ranked scoring defense with 7.47 goals allowed per contest. Buchanan grabbed 27 ground balls and caused 10 turnovers this spring.
