FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The Fairfield University men's golf team will play a pair of one-day tournaments in New Jersey this week as a final preparation for the upcoming Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship. Both of this week's events will feature the Stags competing against several MAAC rivals.
Tuesday, the Stags head to Neshanic Valley Golf Course in Neshanic Station for the Peacock Invitational. Included in the 10-team field are MAAC foes Manhattan, Monmouth, Rider and host Saint Peter's.
Fairfield then visits the Deal Golf & Country Club on Thursday to wrap-up the regular season at the Monmouth Invitational. Alongside the Stags and host Hawks will be MAAC opponents Iona, Manhattan and Saint Peter's.
Fairfield most recently hit the links this past weekend at the Til Duty Is Done Collegiate Invitational, finishing the 36-hole event in 13th place. The Stags were paced by Eric Austin's 76 in the final round and 159 for the weekend at the Lake of Isles North Course in North Stonington, Connecticut.
The Stags' quintet carded a cumulative 645 over the two-day event. All five Stags were within eight strokes of each other with Alex Ferrante (80-81-161), Steve Burak (84-76-162), Alex Taylor (84-79-163) and Peter Repetto (86-81-167) also competing for Fairfield.
The 2015 MAAC Championship is slated for April 24-26 at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
