Stags Finish 13th at Whiting-Turner Towson Invitational

GRASONVILLE, Md. – Led by a final-round 74 from Steve Burak, the Fairfield University men's golf team posted a 13th-place finish at the Whiting-Turner Towson Invitational. Eric Austin added his second straight round shooting an 80 at the par-71 Prospect Bay Country Club in Grasonville, Maryland.

Five Stags shot a collective 644 in the 36-hole event, finishing just five strokes out of the top-10 in the 23-team field. Alex Taylor added 82 on Sunday for Fairfield, while Alex Ferrante and Conner Beakey each fired an 83.

No. 43 Arkansas pulled away to claim the team title, aggregating a 589 over two days to top second-place William & Mary by 16 strokes. The individual crown went to Lloyd Jeffer Go of Seton Hall, whose final-round 70 staked him to a win by just one stroke over the Razorbacks' Nicolas Echavarria.

Up next, the Stags will play the only Connecticut tournament on the 2015 spring slate with an April 11-12 outing at the Northeast Invitational. The 36-hole affair will be held at the Mohegan Sun Golf Club in Baltic, Conn.
