Women's Tennis Sweeps Rider 7-0

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. -- The Fairfield University women's tennis team swept Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Rider, 7-0, on Monday, March 16, for their second conference win of the 2015 campaign on the Rider Campus Courts.

Fairfield won the doubles point before posting singles victories in the No. 1 – No. 6 spots.

The Fairfield duo of Allison Radde and Karen McKeough defeated Rider's Kerrin Toner and Danielle Scrudato, 8-4, in the No. 1 spot while the Stags' Nicole Aragones and Sarah Stuhlmann notched an 8-2 win over the Broncs' Michelle Caravaglio and Sandra Penas in the No. 2 slot. At No. 3 doubles, Erika Nannery and Kaila Nelson blanked Rider's Leonora Paul and Aleesa Rouse, 8-0.

At No. 1 singles, Radde defeated Caravaglio, 6-2, 6-0, while Stuhlmann downed Toner, 6-2, 6-1, in the No. 2 spot. At No. 3 singles was Aragones who beat Scrudato, 6-2, 6-0, while Nelson defeated Montana Morris, 6-2, 6-0, in the No. 4 spot. Rounding out play for Fairfield was Nannery who topped Paul, 6-1, 6-0, while Helen Abbot downed Penas, 6-0, 6-1, in the No. 6 slot.

Fairfield (3-1; 2-0 MAAC) is scheduled to bring action home to the Walsh Athletic Center Tennis Courts. The Stags will host Providence on Friday, March 20 at 3:00 p.m. before hosting Hofstra the following day at 11:00 a.m.
