Men's Swimming & Diving Falls to Iona

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Fairfield University men's swimming & diving team fell to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Iona at the Hynes Center Pool for their last regular-season dual meet. The men were edged 174-118.

Junior Connor Daly posted three individual victories on the day. Daly captured the 200y butterfly, with a time of 1:56.98, the 100y butterfly with a time of 53.16, and the 200y IM with a time of 1:57.95.

The 200y freestyle relay Jay Cook, Scott McGinty, Michael Capodanno, and Andrew Tavcar earned first place points with a time of 1:33.72 while the relay team of Collin Hayes, Daly, McGinty, and Cook finished third in the 200y medley relay event with a time of 1:40.08.

Fairfield took the top three spots in both the men's 1-meter and 3-meter diving. Sophomore Daniel Pires captured the both events for the Stags, posting a 1-meter 263.02 and a 3-meter 312.30, for a personal best. Senior Evan Barr was the runner-up in both events, recording a 1-meter 259.32 and a 3-meter 261.15. Classmate Will Sullivan placed third on both boards, with a 1-meter 240.37 a 3-meter 220.65, for a personal best.

The Fairfield men's team closed out their 2014-15 regular-season campaign owning a 2-6 overall record and a 0-3 mark in the MAAC. The Stags will compete at the 2015 MAAC Championships.

The 2015 MAAC Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Championships will be held at the Burt Flickinger Athletic Center of Erie Community College in Buffalo, N.Y. from Wednesday, February 11 to Saturday, February 14. For tickets to the 2015 MAAC Championships, click here.
