BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Fairfield University men's swimming & diving team continued action at the 2014 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship all day and evening at Erie Community College's Burt Flickinger Center.
In the 1000y freestyle, freshman Jameson Duncan finished with a personal best time of 9:58.45 to place 15th overall. Junior Andrew Robinson followed at 10:01.69, a personal best, to place 18th overall. Pat Orkins clocked a personal best 10:21.20 while Nick Cannone was close behind, recording a 10:25.94 in the event.
Junior Connor Daly clocked a 4:02.10 to place fourth overall in the A-Final of the 400y IM. He broke his own previous program record of 4:05.08 set on February 15, 2013.
In the 200y freestyle event, Jay Cook recorded a personal best 1:43.99 to place fourth overall in the B-Final.
The men's 400y medley relay of Kyle Lally, Andrew Tavcar, Daly, and Michael Capodanno clocked a 3:35.95 to finish ninth overall.
The Stags will wrap up action at the MAAC Championships tomorrow, February 14, with the preliminaries beginning at 10am.
Friday's Preliminaries
Men's 400y IM: Junior Connor Daly posted an ECAC qualifying 4:06.07 to finish sixth overall and qualify for the A-Final. Senior Kevin Kett clocked in with a personal best time of 4:26.54 while Nick Cannone finished with his own personal best 4:40.09.
Men's 100y Fly: Sophomore Scott McGinty clocked a personal best time of 51.79 seconds to place 18th overall.
Men's 200y Free: Senior Jay Cook was the top finisher for Fairfield, clocking an ECAC qualifying 1:44.34 to qualify for the B-Final in the event.
Men's 100y Breast: Sophomore Andrew Tavcar posted a personal best 1:01.05 followed by Kevin Kett who finished at 1:04.14.
Men's 100y Backstroke: Rookie Kyle Lally clocked a time of 54.80 seconds, for a personal best, to place 18th overall. Collin Hayes was close behind in 19th, with a 54.88 second personal best time, while Michael Capodanno clocked in at 56.48, for a personal best.
