FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Fairfield University Swimming and Diving Teams continued with the second day of competition at the Terrier Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts.
The combined team from Army West Point is the current leader of the eight team field, their two day total sits at 1172, close behind is UMass with a combined total of 1034 points good for second place, and rounding out the top three is Boston University with 763.5 points. Fairfield has a combined two day total 34 points, putting them in eighth place.
Army West Point is the leader on the women's side with 616 points followed by host, Boston University who has racked up 456.5 points and in third is the University of Vermont (385.5). The Stags women's team sits in eighth place with 12 points.
UMass leads on the men's side with 671 points, followed by Army West Point (556) and Boston College (481). Fairfield has totaled 22 points and is currently in seventh place.
The Fairfield men's team picked up four points in the 200y Medley Relay from the quartet of Edmund Falcigno, Andrew Tavcar, Ben Nelligan, and Brian Burke.
Justin Touve added two points of his own from the 200y freestyle Consolation Final clocking in at a personal best 1:42.93.
In the 800y Freestyle Relay the team of Touve, Connor Daly, Andrew Robinson, and Jameson Duncan finished 15th overall claiming four more points for the Stags.
Connor Daly qualified for the Bonus Final in the 400y Individual Medley and recorded a time of 4:04.62.
Tavcar swam a personal best in the 100y breaststroke to finish 24th overall swimming in the Bonus Final with a time of (1:01.72).
Preliminaries:
400y Individual Medley- Emily Vlass and Danielle Latino each recorded personal bests in the event with times of 4:44.57 and 4:56.22.
100y Butterfly- Donna Lam (59.51), Goddard (1:00.48), Meghan Guinee (1:01.52), and Brianna Thompson (1:02.48) all swam and recorded personal bests in the event.
Nelligan (52.77), Evan Gorman (54.14), and Kyle Lally (54.70) each recorded their own personal bests.
200y Freestyle- Kelly Cordes and Lam each recorded personal bests, posting times of 1:56.50 and 1:59.14.
Jameson Duncan (1:48.46), Andrew Robinson (148.68), Tavcar (1:49.74), and Nelligan (1:51.32) all posted personal bests of their own in Saturday's preliminaries.
100y Breaststroke- Four more Stags posted personal bests with Vlass (1:10.09), Guinee (1:11.77), Liz Avery (1:12.93), and Gabrielle Angresano (1:14.78).
100y Backstroke- Kelly Mulligan (59.59), Cordes (1:01.04), and Thompson (1:03.45) all competed with Thompson setting a new personal best in the event.
Lally (54.99), Falcigno (55.29), and Delfico (59.41) all put forth personal bests in the final individual event of the night.
The Stags wrap up competition at the Terrier Invitational on Sunday at 10:00 am beginning with preliminaries. The final two sessions will be held at 2:30 pm and 5:00 pm to finish things off.
